Tifosi Optics Ranks in Bicycling Magazine 2006 Subscriber Survey

WATKINSVILLE, Ga. (Dec. 20, 2006)- Tifosi Optics eyewear showed a strong presence in the sunglasses category of Bicycling Magazine’s 2006 Subscriber Survey.

Of the 3,904 respondents, 4.9 percent answered “Tifosi” when asked, ‘Which brand of Sunglasses do you currently own?’ This response rate ranked Tifosi the sixth most popular eyewear brand of the 16 represented brands.

Respondents were also asked, ‘Which brands of sunglasses do you plan to consider for your next purchase?’ Of the 16 represented brands, Tifosi ranked eighth with 9.1 percent of respondents planning to consider Tifosi Optics for their next eyewear purchase.

“This survey confirms the landmark year Tifosi has been fortunate enough to have,” said Tifosi Optics Owner, Joe Earley. “Cutting edge technology and superior customer service has helped us build a solid brand in less than four years.”

The Bicycling Magazine subscriber survey was conducted from Aug. 30, 2006 to Sept. 11, 2006. Of the 23,884 e-mail invitations sent out, 3,904 subscribers completed the survey that was developed with 2WAY software.

AEG-TOSHIBA-JetNetwork Pro Cycling Team Announces 2007 Roster and Sport Director

ATHENS Ga. (Dec. 20, 2006)— The AEG-TOSHIBA-JetNetwork Professional Cycling Team is pleased to announce its 2007 UCI Professional roster.

The 2007 team will be a mixture of strong competitors such as former National Elite Road and Masters Criterium Champion Scottie Weiss, young talent like former VMG team leader Todd Henriksen and fast finishers such as NRC race and Superweek stage winner Frank Travieso and 2003 US Elite National Criterium Champion Keith Norris.

New additions to the team also include current Collegiate Cross Country and Short Track National Champion Alex Hagman and former Nerac-Outdoorlights rider Robert Sweeting. Winston David, winner of the 2006 Georgia Cup Final, and Latin American racing legend and former ONCE pro, Ivan Franco, round out the new members.

Returning for the team’s third season are founding members Chris Frederick, who was among the top 20 finishers at this year’s USPRO Criterium, former U23 National Team member Eric Keim, former Serbian National Team member Predrag Prokic and former Serbian U23 National Champion Esad Hasanovic.

Also returning for 2007 is former Cuban National Team member and stage winner at the Giro de Regioni, Yosvany Falcon and former Navy Seal and Vuelta Independencia (Dominican Republic) stage winner Joe Fernandez.

“The 2007 team is a great combination of seasoned professionals and exceptionally talented developing riders, which is the key to our team’s present and future,” said Managing Director Ravi Rajcoomar. “We have put together a group of driven athletes that have great chemistry and share a strong desire for success.”

The team will have an Elite Amateur Squad consisting original team member Eric Murphy, former US National team member Alex Gutierrez and Latin America stage race specialist, Gabriel Larrea.

The final addition to the 2007 AEG-TOSHIBA-JetNetwork squad is long-time Italian professional, Roberto Gaggioli who will be the team’s Sport Director.

“Gaggioli brings a wealth of experience and racing knowledge to the program and will help us to continue to grow from the strong base we have developed in the last few years,“ said Rajcoomar. “He is the winningest bike racer in North American history, he has won it all, and that background will help to guide and develop our riders.”

Gaggioli responded by saying, “I am very excited to be part of the progression of the team, the program is solid, the riders are very good, and together I hope we can be great. We have some big objectives in store for next year and cannot wait to get started racing.”

Jittery Joe’s Finalizes 2007 Pro Roster

ATHENS, Ga—The Jittery Joe’s Professional Cycling Team has finalized its roster for next season by keeping five riders from 2006 and adding eight new riders.

Returning to the team from last year are Australians Jeff Hopkins and Trent Wilson as well as Americans Neil Shirley, Evan Elken and Austin King. Also returning to the team after spending two years with Navigators is Colombian climber Cesar Grajales, who made a name for himself when he won the Brasstown Bald stage of the 2004 Tour of Georgia in the Jittery Joe’s jersey. Thad Dulin returns to the team after a one-year hiatus with Nerac-OLP.

New riders for 2007 include Matt Shriver from TargeTraining, Australian Tommy Nankervis from Priority Health, Australian Cody Stevenson from FRF Couriers-Caravello, 2006 Canadian espoir road race and time trial national champion David Veilleux, 2006 Sun Tour runner-up and Australian mountain bike national champion Chris Jongewaard, and neo pro Tim Henry.

“We have put together the strongest squad that Jittery Joe’s has had in our six year history,” said Team Manager Micah Rice. “We will be a contender in any race we attend, whether it be a fast criterium like the Athens Twilight or a grueling stage race such as the Tour de Georgia.”
