Thursday, December 21st, 2006

ATHENS Ga. (Dec. 20, 2006)— The AEG-TOSHIBA-JetNetwork Professional Cycling Team is pleased to announce its 2007 UCI Professional roster.

The 2007 team will be a mixture of strong competitors such as former National Elite Road and Masters Criterium Champion Scottie Weiss, young talent like former VMG team leader Todd Henriksen and fast finishers such as NRC race and Superweek stage winner Frank Travieso and 2003 US Elite National Criterium Champion Keith Norris.

New additions to the team also include current Collegiate Cross Country and Short Track National Champion Alex Hagman and former Nerac-Outdoorlights rider Robert Sweeting. Winston David, winner of the 2006 Georgia Cup Final, and Latin American racing legend and former ONCE pro, Ivan Franco, round out the new members.

Returning for the team’s third season are founding members Chris Frederick, who was among the top 20 finishers at this year’s USPRO Criterium, former U23 National Team member Eric Keim, former Serbian National Team member Predrag Prokic and former Serbian U23 National Champion Esad Hasanovic.

Also returning for 2007 is former Cuban National Team member and stage winner at the Giro de Regioni, Yosvany Falcon and former Navy Seal and Vuelta Independencia (Dominican Republic) stage winner Joe Fernandez.

“The 2007 team is a great combination of seasoned professionals and exceptionally talented developing riders, which is the key to our team’s present and future,” said Managing Director Ravi Rajcoomar. “We have put together a group of driven athletes that have great chemistry and share a strong desire for success.”

The team will have an Elite Amateur Squad consisting original team member Eric Murphy, former US National team member Alex Gutierrez and Latin America stage race specialist, Gabriel Larrea.

The final addition to the 2007 AEG-TOSHIBA-JetNetwork squad is long-time Italian professional, Roberto Gaggioli who will be the team’s Sport Director.

“Gaggioli brings a wealth of experience and racing knowledge to the program and will help us to continue to grow from the strong base we have developed in the last few years,“ said Rajcoomar. “He is the winningest bike racer in North American history, he has won it all, and that background will help to guide and develop our riders.”

Gaggioli responded by saying, “I am very excited to be part of the progression of the team, the program is solid, the riders are very good, and together I hope we can be great. We have some big objectives in store for next year and cannot wait to get started racing.”

Tifosi Optics Introduces Polarized Fototec Lenses

Tuesday, August 8th, 2006

Sports enthusiasts wearing Tifosi Optics Polarized Fototec eyewear have a new motto when it comes to eye protection: no case, no spare lenses, no problem.

For the past year, Tifosi Fototec lenses have allowed cycling enthusiasts the freedom of riding for an entire day without ever changing lenses. In keeping with a strong reputation for staying on the cutting edge of technology, Tifosi Optics has added three Polarized Fototec lenses to the 2007 product line.

Fototec lenses are blended with microscopic photochromes that change tint when exposed to UV rays while still providing 100 percent UVA/UVB protection. Polarized Fototec lenses combine the versatility of polycarbonate Fototec lenses with the glare eliminating properties of polarized lenses.

Decreased glare means less eye fatigue, allowing the wearer to enjoy more time on the water or slopes. Since Polarized Fototec lenses change from light to dark in about eight seconds, the same pair of shades can be worn from first morning light, through the afternoon and into the evening.

The Smoke Polarized Fototec lens has a light transmission range of 34 to 12 percent. Smoke is a neutral tint that minimizes color distortion and performs well for all-day activities.

Developed specifically for fishing, Open Water Green absorbs glare and allows the wearer to see fish below the surface of the water. The yellow properties of this lens enhance contrast by filtering out hazy blue light. With a light transmission range of 28 to 11 percent, this tint is designed to be worn in overcast and rainy conditions as well as in bright light.

High Speed Red Polarized Fototec enhances visual depth by providing a small amount of contrast. The light transmission range is from 26 to 9 percent, resulting in a versatile tint perfect for both low light and extremely bright light conditions.

Tifosi Optics Polarized Fototec lenses have a suggested retail of $89.95, and will be on display at booth 71025 at the 2007 Outdoor Retailer Tradeshow in Salt Lake City.

Since its incorporation in 2003, Tifosi Optics has been developing and distributing technologically-advanced, value-oriented eyewear for enthusiasts of all sports. For more information on Tifosi Optics visit www.tifosioptics.com.
