Tifosi Optics Fototec lenses are blended with microscopic photochromes that darken in color when in contact with UV rays. Tifosi Fototec lenses are polycarbonate and offer UVA/UVB protection. Each of the six lens tints will darken in about 12 seconds and return to their original color in about two minutes.

Of the six Fototec lenses Tifosi offers, two are Polarized Fototec that combine the versatility of polycarbonate Fototec lenses with the glare eliminating properties of polarized lenses. The Brown and Smoke Polarized Fototec lenses also darken in about 12 seconds and return to their original state in two minutes.

Please read the Fototec technology page for more information.

Polarized lenses are designed to eliminate the glare that is responsible for eye fatigue and decreased vision. Tifosi Optics polarized lenses are made of shatterproof polycarbonate and decentered to minimize optical distortion in the periphery.

So how does it work? When light is reflected from shiny surfaces, it is usually horizontally polarized. The horizontal polarized light is blocked by vertically oriented polarizers in the lenses.

Please read the polarized technology page for more information.

AC (All Conditions) Red lenses offer an enhanced view in cloudy or foggy weather. AC Red lenses provide contrast in mid to low lighting conditions.

Clear lenses enable the wearer to have protection at night, or other extremely low lighting conditions. Although clear, these Tifosi Optics lenses still offer 100% UVA/UVB protection.

Enliven lenses enhance reds, blues, and greens. The Enliven Golf lens has a greenish smoke tint that is known for its object illumination properties. This lens enhances the wearer’s ability to pick up a ball in flight. The Enliven Bike lens has a red tint that picks up on road details.

Clarion Mirror lenses have a grey tint similar to the Smoke lens, but with a colored mirror that repels water. Clarion Yellow, Clarion Blue and Clarion Red are available.

Look at the lenses, the right arm, and the frame itself. On the lenses, you will see TIFOSI +, +s, or +v etched in the upper edge. On the right arm, you will see T Z87.1 etched on the frame material, not on the hydrophilic rubber ear pad. On the frame, you will see TIFOSI Z87.1 etched on the inside, above the right lens. If any of these etchings are not present, then your product is not ANZI Z87.1 safety rated.

As you may be aware, California has a PROP 65 law in place concerning chemicals that are in consumer goods. The state recently included eyewear into this law. Virtually all higher end eyewear lenses, including prescription goods, are made of polycarbonate. Polycarbonate has BPA in the material which is listed by PROP 65. California has not set a minimum limit for the amount of BPA that is acceptable, so any amount requires that the products be labeled. In order to be in compliance with PROP 65, we are labeling our eyewear and POP displays with a decal. You may not have had other suppliers do this yet, but in order to be in compliance, they all must do the same. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please feel free to contact us with any questions regarding this issue. The label is as follows:

WARNING: This Product can expose you to chemicals including BPA, which is known to the State of California to cause cancer, and nickel, which is known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm. For more information go to www.p65warnings.ca.gov/products
